Why Ten For Two?
Me (Megan) as a young camper!
As a camper, my anticipation for the next camp season would begin as soon as I boarded the bus to return home…
Once home, I waited (not so patiently) for the ten months between camp seasons to pass so that I could return for the two months of camp, the highlight of my year. That positive experience, combined with my love of working with campers, building a staff and my love of the outdoors, led me to pursue a career as a camp industry professional.
As a camp professional over the past 18 years, I have experienced the “ten-for-two” phenomenon from a quite different perspective: that of the organization that brings to life the same joy that I experienced as a camper.
The ten-month lead-up to a two-month camp season is all-important. During that period, all elements necessary for a successful summer program must come together comprehensively, seamlessly, and in a timely fashion. Having managed all facets of the process, I know firsthand the myriad tasks that need to be completed well -- from hiring the right staff to ACA accreditation to negotiating realistic food service contracts through coordinating efficient bus schedules, among countless others.
Now as a camp consultant, I am in a position to share that experience by supporting and collaborating with camp teams on services that support operations, on seasonal staffing, on ACA accreditation preparations, among a host of other projects.
I look forward to putting my experience to work for your camp by “focusing on the ten, while you get ready for your two.”
